Father, I Prey

There is nothing on this planet that riles me more than duplicity. Specifically, hypocrites. The people whose words defy their actions. The people who pose as benevolent creatures in this world, and instead, are driven by malevolent forces.

Pedophilic priests, hands down, are the best example of this.

They preach cloaked in costume, waiving their hands implying a power bestowed upon them that offers some kind of absolution. But does it really? The role itself is supposed to embody love and respect, a higher good, and God. The problem with roles, though, is that they are often played by actors. And in some cases, hidden in the theater of it all, are the actors who forget their lines and rewrite a script that features abuse as love.

Father, I pray.

And it doesn’t end with the priests.

We have doctors who push medicine that makes us sick, unable to weigh, assess and consider the suspect nature and motives of pharmaceutical companies. Greed guised as good.

Father, I pray.

We have politicians who create legislation as diversion tactics from their own behavior rather than use it to serve as a vehicle of law intended to protect society against the crimes for which they are the biggest culprits. How many times do we need to find out that someone in the legislature sponsored a law for which they end up being found guilty? Posing as someone good to do something bad.

Father, I pray.

Beyond that, that such a thing could ever happen is evidence of a kind of insanity permeating out society and world.

All of our so-called authority figures who err, who fashion themselves as leaders, have done nothing more than take a page from cultic leadership: Manipulate the human spirit to accommodate the mutilated and disfigured souls they hide within.

Welcome to a new kind of asylum. It has no walls.

Father, I pray.
